The Conservative Party has announced a range of measures aimed at tackling cyber-crime and tightening data protection in the UK.

Proposals include the creation of a new post of cyber-security minister to combat what the party calls the "growing threat" of online crime.

Olympics website hosting 'pirated' games

The Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee has removed a game from its official website after complaints that it was substantially copied from an independent US developer's work.

Other games which also appear similar to existing products remain on the site, however.

New York-based games developer Cadin Batrack claimed in a blog posting that "the Olympics stole my game".

Batrack highlighted what he claims are strong similarities between his Snow Day game, and a game on the Olympics website titled Fuwa Fight the Winter Clouds.

US holds largest ever simulated cyber-attack exercise

US officials said Thursday that "real and growing" threats to US computer and telecommunications networks were behind the holding of the largest-ever cyber-security exercises this week.

Computer security experts from five countries, more than 40 private sector companies, and numerous government and state agencies are spending a week fielding simulated "real-world," on-line attacks on the computer systems of government bodies, corporations, transportation and other key industries.
